For the final installment of Dag in de Branding’s artist in residency, Sketch351 once again attempts to demonstrate just how meaningless a performance can be. If three self-proclaimed beautifully bizarre shows haven’t yet convinced you that this young ensemble has absolutely nothing to say, prepare to be dazzled by the amount of nonsense these guys are able to put together. They promise the most unnecessary show imaginable: an illogical, incomprehensible circus that stubbornly refuses to have any purpose. People say “go big or go home.” Sketch351 is here to nonchalantly say: “just go.”

Sketch351 is a cello, flute, percussion, piano and trombone ensemble based in Den Haag. As “artist in residence” at Festival Dag in de Branding they’ve been taking a deep dive into the Fluxus Movement’s manuals. Coached by actor and director Titus Muizelaar and musician Heleen Hulst, they’ve turned their artistic exploration into a playground and began thinking about performing music outside the physical and symbolic boundaries of a concert hall.
