Jan-Peter de Graaff’s closing concert on demand!
On Saturday evening, October 19, during Festival Dag in de Branding, Concerto Metropolitain, by guest curator and composer Jan-Peter de Graaff, performed by the Ardemus Saxophone Quartet and the Residentie Orchestra, had its world premiere in Amare. NRC gave the concert four stars and wrote “The railways as a source of music: Jan-Peter de Graaff composed his flashy Concerto Metropolitain on the train. (…) In the two-part work, for saxophone quartet and symphony orchestra, De Graaff investigates the relationship between man and machine, the lyrical and the mechanical, between proliferation and efficiency. That produces an exciting sound image.” The program Avondconcert of NPO Klassiek was present at Festival Dag in de Branding on October 19 to record the concert. This was broadcast last Sunday, October 27. The concert can be listened to on demand here.
