Todos los fuegos el fuego by composer Maxim Shalygin will premiere on June 29 during our festival in the Zuiderstrandtheater, performed by the Amstel Quartet and the Keuris Quartet. The rehearsals are in full swing and luckily we can occasionally watch through the beautiful videos that they make. Check the video here.
Ukrainian composer Maxim Shalygin lives in The Hague, from where he has built an audience with his accessible and spiritually inspired music, which can be both painfully intense and engagingly beautiful. Shalygin prefers solo instruments, and it’s therefore not surprising that this time he chose to write for eight saxophones. Todos los fuegos el fuego is performed in the foyers of the Zuiderstrandtheater, with a view over the dunes. Shalygin’s intention is to give them every opportunity to let their imagination roam. It’s up to them if they want to listen sitting down or walking about. More info and tickets.
