Vacancy: Board Member

Festival Dag in de Branding is The Hague’s festival for new music. The festival is organised by the Johan Wagenaar Foundation (JWS) in collaboration with various partners in The Hague (including the Residentie Orkest, Amare, Korzo Theater, Royal Conservatoire, Het Nationale Theater and PAARD). Three times a year, the festival presents a wide range of newly composed music in a one‑day programme at different locations throughout The Hague. The programme features established names as well as promising young makers who are part of our makers‑in‑residence trajectory. Each edition of Festival Dag in de Branding therefore offers a compelling cross‑section of today’s music.

In addition to the festival, the Johan Wagenaar Foundation supports talent development programmes for makers and musicians, and on behalf of the Municipality of The Hague organises and curates the city’s music awards, including the prestigious Johan Wagenaar Prize for an entire oeuvre.

Due to the expiration of board terms, the Johan Wagenaar Foundation is seeking two new board members.

Board Member / Treasurer

As treasurer, you oversee the financial health of the foundation and act as a sparring partner for the management team on financial and business matters. You assess budgets, annual accounts and financial reports, and contribute to sustainable financial policy.

We are looking for someone who:

• has experience with finance, budgeting and annual accounts
• has board experience or is willing to develop it
• has affinity with culture and the societal value of art
• can think strategically and judge independently
• can attend approximately four board meetings per year

Board Member with an Entrepreneurial Background

For this position, we are seeking someone with an entrepreneurial mindset and experience within the cultural and creative sector. You will contribute to the strategic development of the organisation, audience engagement, partnerships and positioning.

We are looking for someone who:

• has an entrepreneurial background in the cultural or creative sector
• has experience with organisational development, entrepreneurship, marketing or fundraising
• brings a relevant network or experience in building strategic partnerships
• has affinity with contemporary music and culturecan think strategically and judge independently

The Board

The board supervises the foundation’s policies, acts as a sounding board for the management team and contributes to the further development of the organisation. The board meets on average four times a year in The Hague. Additional meetings may take place around specific developments or projects.
