On 29 June 2019, Saskia Lankhoorn retired as curator of Festival Dag in de Branding. She did this during a summer edition of the festival with a special concert on the beach. NRC Handelsblad was there all day and gave the program no less than 4 out of 5 balls in their review!
“After two seasons of artistic leadership, pianist Saskia Lankhoorn said goodbye to Dag in de Branding on Saturday. For the final concert, at sunset on the Zuiderstrand, she asked eighteen composers to write a piece for her. The picture was beautiful: sunset on the Zuiderstrand in The Hague. Four old pianos in the sand, on which pianist Saskia Lankhoorn played a languid audience. In the distance, a fifth instrument was slowly swallowed by the tide.”
