Lera Auerbach is a versatile artist. In addition to music, she also makes sculptures and these are exhibited in Amare during the festival. The exhibition can be visited free of charge from October 14 to 22.
About the exhibition
During the Lera Auerbach Festival, various bronze sculptures by Lera Auerbach will be exhibited in Amare, these sculptures from Vienna, Berlin, Miami, and New York are showcased together for the first time. Within Auerbach’s kaleidoscopic art universe, a dance between contrasts and consonance unfolds, where intellect and emotion intertwine. Her sculptures, untouched by the norms of formal academia, emerge from an intuitive core. Driven by her life experiences, Auerbach’s work reached a turning point in 2009 when a devastating fire consumed her New York studio. Destroying her library, manuscripts, personal items, and art collection, the catastrophe became an unexpected catalyst. Rising from the ashes, she found in sculpting a cathartic outlet for her intense emotional state. With its curatorial arch that spans her music, visual art, and literary creations, the festival seeks to explore the multifarious nature of Auerbach’s oeuvre across artistic disciplines.
The bronze sculptures are located in the foyer on the 2nd floor of Amare. Her Rooforisms are also exhibited in Amare, in the foyer on the 3rd floor. The festive opening of the exhibition is on Friday, October 13 at 4:00 PM. The exhibition will then be open daily from 14 to 22 October from 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM and can be visited free of charge. During the concert evenings of the Lera Auerbach Festival you can of course also go to the exhibition upon presentation of your concert ticket. Lera’s website contains more information on these sculptures with an explanation about their meaning.
