Meet guest curator Calliope Tsoupaki
Calliope Tsoupaki is the guest curator of the festival’s 77th edition, which places the theme of Ars Nova at its heart. She presents a broad range of the latest music from across the ages.
This edition blends today’s music with music from the 90s, the 14th century and the Renaissance.
We open with the Residentie Orkest performing two of her works. During the concert, she will also receive the Johan Wagenaar Prize, an important recognition of her entire oeuvre.
On Saturday 17 October, we follow in the footsteps of her musical mentors, brought to life by a diverse range of musicians. A journey through transmission, renewal and the living meaning of Ars Nova, culminating in a concert by Ensemble Klang featuring new work by Tsoupaki and Michael Gordon’s monumental Trance.
