Computers categorise and analyse our tiniest facial expressions – not just for the sake of identity verification, but also to gauge our emotions with commercial intentions. There’s something about this that opens up possibilities for artistic interpretation, at least in the eyes of the members of ELECTRA, composer Yannis Kyriakides and photographer Johannes Schwartz. Face is a multimedia composition for voice, violin, recorders, live electronics and video that takes software for facial recognition as its starting point. A piece of musical theatre that has its roots in reality, while offering a quest for the beauty and poetry behind the dangers.
ELECTRA consists of: Diamanda Dramm (violin), Susanna Borsch (recorder), Michaela Riener (soprano) and Saskia Lankhoorn (piano).
