Three young makers have been invited by Festival Dag in de Branding to write new compositions. In season 21/22 these artists-in-residence are presenting themselves to the public. Thomas van Dun has a composition in mind in which he creates a trance experience. In cooperation with a light artist, he wants to immerse the audience in a total experience. Julian Maple-Oliveira is working on an experimental song cycle for acoustic instruments, self-built micro-controllers and his own sound design software.
The ‘lament’ is a musical form that has been used for many centuries. Harpist Michela Amici researches what a lament of today means. What would Ariana say today if she would be able to speak out her feelings, and how can music and scenography help to convey her message?
Amarante Nat is writing a new work to a text by Julia-Beth Harris, Peter Leung is directing.
