Composer Karlheinz Stockhausen (1926-2007) is largely seen as one of the founding fathers of electronic music. His own experiments in the early days of electronic studio’s and a vast number of compositions in which he applied electronic music in its most spectacular appearances, have inspired generations of musicians. To the surprise of many, especially pop musicians have picked up on his inventions which led to his ‘honorary’ title Papa Techno. Composer Cristiano Melli will introduce excerpts from keyworks of Stockhausen in a four channel sound projection. In this presentation the Fourth Region of HYMNEN (1969) is played in its entire form. We hear Stockhausen combining national hymnes of different countries in the world, treated with electronical processes and combined with sound-samples he recorded himself, including the sound of his own breathing. Papa Techno giving breath to electronic music!
