With a spectacular performance at beach pavilion De Fuut, Saskia Lankhoorn concludes her curatorship of Dag in de Branding. Taking her piano into the surf she plays her final recital amid the rolling waves. She has asked all the composers (21 male and 17 female) she has involved in the festival in these past two years to write a short sketch at the occasion of her farewell. ‘I believe in the strength of these composers and at the close of this chapter I wanted to play something by each one of them again.’ Lankhoorn hopes to time her performance exactly right so that the final note coincides with the moment of sunset.
